Cleaning Cycle

Cleaning Cycle (Pro) is for heaters that run low for hours. Many owners finish a long run at a low or medium Power Level with a stretch at full power, to keep the burner clean. Cleaning Cycle does that for you. Your heater's manual may have its own advice.

When it runs

Not every cycle: only when a clean is due, after the heater has spent a while heating at Power Level 6 or lower since its last clean (2 hours by default; 1, 2, 4 or 6 hours).

And only at the end of a timed or planned run:

  • a timer that stops the heater;
  • the end of a Heat Schedule window that runs at a Power Level.

For the last 15 minutes before that stop, the heater runs at Power Level 10. It still turns off on time. Afterwards the app sets the Power Level back to what it was.

It never cleans during King Thermostat's cycles: King runs the heater at full power and swings it on and off like a house furnace.

Clean and stop

While the heater is heating, Clean and stop runs it at full power for 15 minutes, then turns it off. Use it at the end of a long run on low that you started yourself.

Good to know

  • It warms the space for those 15 minutes. Plan for it (open a vent in a small space).
  • Changing the heater by hand during a clean ends it, and your change stands.
  • It never cleans with a low battery (Battery Saver), a fault, a CO alarm or Stay-Off on, or while the heater runs its own thermostat.
  • A long stretch at full power counts as a clean too.
