Who we are

Diesel Heater King makes the Diesel Heater King app for Android and this website, dieselheater.app. Questions about privacy: the support form.

In short

• No account, no sign-up, no location.
• No ads, no analytics, no tracking, in the app or on this website.
• What the app records stays on your phone.
• Nothing is sold. Pro keeps only what it needs to stay on one phone (Pro and updates).

What stays on your phone

The app records your heater's readings, its runs, what happened and who or what did it (History), your settings, and room temperature readings. It keeps them on your phone so the screens, graphs and automations can use them.

• Android's cloud backup is turned off for the app.
• When you set up a new phone and copy your old phone onto it directly, Android may copy this app's data too, as it does for most apps.
• Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage, deletes everything it recorded.

The app's permissions, and why

• Nearby devices (Bluetooth): to find and talk to your heater and to listen to Bluetooth thermometers. The app declares to Android that it never uses Bluetooth scanning for location.
• Notifications: the quiet ongoing notification that keeps the app connected, and alerts such as a CO alarm.
• Run in the background (a foreground service): to stay connected with the screen off.
• Start at boot: to reconnect after the phone restarts.
• Keep awake: short wake-ups for timers and automations while the phone sleeps (at most 10 seconds each, 60 minutes a day).
• Alarms & reminders: to run timers and Heat Schedules on time; you grant it in Android's settings.

The app does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts or files.

Diagnostics

If you need help, you can copy a Diagnostics report (More → Settings → Diagnostics → Copy report) and paste it into the support form. It holds the app and Android versions, the heater's type code, the connection's state and recent readings and messages. It never includes your heater's PIN or its full Bluetooth address (only the last 4 characters). It leaves your phone only if you send it yourself.

Record for support and Copy details for support work the same way. A recording holds up to 15 minutes of the heater's messages and the readings the app took from them; the details hold how a heater presents itself over Bluetooth. Neither includes your heater's PIN or its full Bluetooth address, and both leave your phone only if you paste them into the support form.

The support form

If you write to us with the support form, we receive what you type: your email address, your message, and anything you add, such as your heater's type code, your phone or a Diagnostics report. It reaches us by email, and we use it only to answer you. We keep support messages for up to 12 months, then delete them; ask, and we delete yours sooner.

To stop abuse, the form allows a few messages a day. For that, the site keeps a one-way keyed hash of your email address and of your connection, with the time, for 2 days, and nothing else.

This website

This website sets no cookies and has no analytics, ads or trackers. Cloudflare hosts it and processes your IP address and the details of each request to deliver and protect the site (Cloudflare's privacy policy).

The support and creator codes pages alone load Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not a bot, is sending their form (Turnstile's privacy addendum).

Pro and updates

With Pro, the app talks to dieselheater.app, and only for these:

• Activating and renewing Pro. When you enter a key, and about once a month after that, the app sends your Pro key, a one-way code made from your phone (it can't be turned back into anything about you) and its version. The website keeps that code, the subscription's ID and dates, to keep Pro on one phone at a time, and forgets a phone it hasn't seen for 400 days.
• Checking for updates. Once a day the app reads a small file on this website that names the newest version. It sends nothing about you; you can turn it off in the app.

Never sent: your heater's readings, settings or history, where you are, or anything else on your phone. Like any visit to this website, the request shows your connection's IP address to Cloudflare.

Link and Stripe take the payment: we never see your card. Link's privacy policy and Stripe's cover it. For a tip, Stripe shows us the amount and the email address for its receipt.

Paying with USDC. Pro, gifts and tips can also be paid with USDC on Solana, straight from your wallet to Diesel Heater King's. Payments on Solana are public: anyone can see the paying wallet, the amount and the date. For Pro and gifts, this website keeps the order (what you bought, the amount, the date and the payment's ID) as the record of the sale, with no name or email address. To stop abuse, it allows a few orders a day, and for that keeps a one-way keyed hash of your connection, with the time, for 2 days.

Creator codes

If you type a creator code when you buy Pro, it is kept with your purchase (at Stripe for a card payment, on this website for USDC) so we can pay its creator for the sale. The creator never learns who you are.

When you ask for a creator code, we keep the code with the email address and Solana wallet address you give, to pay you and to write to you about your code, and a record of each payment. We never share your email address; ask, and we delete it (the payment records stay, for the books). To stop abuse, the form allows a few codes a day from one connection, and for that keeps a one-way keyed hash of the connection, with the time, for 2 days. Payments on Solana are public.

Children

The app and this website are not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from anyone.

Changes

When this policy changes, this page shows the new version and its date.
