Heat Graph and energy
The Heat Graph (Pro, on the Insights tab) shows how the room and the heater did over time.
Top: temperatures
- Room: the room temperature King Thermostat uses (a Bluetooth thermometer, the Phone sensor, or the heater sensor if the heater takes its air from inside).
- Heater sensor (dashed): the heater's own reading, shown when the heater takes its air from inside (or when there is no other room reading). It includes the heater's temperature compensation. With outside air it says nothing about the room, so it stays off the graph and the room gets the full height; its value is still in the readout.
- King Thermostat band: from its ON point to its OFF point, while it was on.
- Running: a light wash with a flame-coloured strip along the bottom, from self-check to the end of the cooldown.
The key under the graph only lists what the graph is showing.
Bottom: battery and draw
- Battery: the voltage the heater reports at its terminals, while it measures it (many heaters measure it only while they run). The dip at each start is the glow plug.
- Draw (est.): the heater's electrical draw, estimated. Heaters don't report their current over Bluetooth, so the app estimates it from what the heater is doing: about 100 W for the glow plug while it lights, more fan and fuel pump the higher the Power Level, and the fan alone while it cools down.
Ranges
- 2 h: live, a reading every 10 seconds.
- 24 h and 7 days: from the minute-by-minute recordings this phone keeps. The lowest voltage of each minute is shown, so start-up dips stay visible.
Tap or drag across the graph to read any moment. Gaps are times the phone wasn't connected.
Energy
Each run in Service Hours shows its estimated energy: watt-hours (Wh), and amp-hours (Ah) at the battery voltage. They include the cooldown. 12 V and 24 V heaters draw about the same watts, so a 24 V heater shows about half the amp-hours for the same run.
Calibrate: with a clamp meter on the heater's power lead, read the current once it has been heating steadily at one Power Level for a few minutes, and enter it with the battery voltage. The estimate then follows your heater. It changes estimates only, never the heater.
Estimates are a guide, not a measurement: for battery planning, a battery monitor is more exact.
