Beta heaters
Some heaters are new to the app. The app knows how they talk over Bluetooth, but no heater like yours has been checked with it yet. These heaters are Beta, and the app is careful with them.
Watch first
A Beta heater connects and shows its readings straight away: running or off, its Power Level or target, the heater sensor, the battery and any fault. Until you check those readings, the app sends it nothing but requests for them.
Then check the readings
Tap Check the readings on the Heater tab.
- Compare what the app reads with the heater's own panel.
- Change the Power Level or the target on the panel or the remote, one step. The app has to see that change.
- If everything matches, tap These match my heater.
Start, Stop, the Power Level, the target and the mode then work from the app, and so do the automations. The heater's own settings stay read-only on a Beta heater.
A check holds for what the app read when you made it. If an update changes how the app reads your heater, it asks you to check again.
Something's wrong?
Tap Something's wrong, and the app only shows the heater's readings and sends it nothing. You can check again any time.
Record for support
A recording helps get your heater supported properly. Tap Record for support on the Heater tab (or More → Settings → Diagnostics), then Start recording. For about 5 minutes you use the heater's own panel while the app listens:
- Leave it as it is for 30 seconds.
- Raise the Power Level by one, wait 10 seconds, then lower it again.
- If it has a Heater Thermostat mode, switch to it and back.
- Only if you'd use the heater now anyway, start it. Stop it only once it has run for 20 minutes or more.
The app sends the heater nothing new while it records. Tap Finish, then Copy recording, and paste it into the support form at dieselheater.app/support. It never includes the heater's PIN or its full Bluetooth address.
CO
CO Guard always warns. Until you have checked the readings, it can't stop a Beta heater: stop it at its panel, and get to fresh air.
Same help as in the app (More → How to use).
